Piggybacking on a previous post about Hamburger Helper. Many of you mentioned that you make your own. I do both and would love to hear your recipes! Please and thank you.

I'd be happy to share some recipes for homemade Hamburger Helper. Here are a few of my favorite:
1. Classic Cheesy Macaroni: Start by browning ground beef, onions and garlic in a large skillet. Once the beef is cooked through, add in 1 cup of cheese and mix until melted. Add 4 cups of uncooked macaroni noodles, 2 tablespoons tomato paste and 2 ½ cups chicken broth or water (plus more if needed). Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until noodles are tender. Sprinkle with additional cheese before serving!
2. Tex Mex Fiesta: In a large skillet over medium heat cook 1 lb ground beef, 1 diced onion and 2 cloves minced garlic until the beef is no longer pink; drain off any excess fat. Then add 3 tablespoons chili powder, 1 teaspoon oregano and ¼ teaspoon cumin along with one 7 oz can diced green chiles; stir to combine everything together completely then let it simmer for 5 minutes before adding 3 cups chicken broth or water (plus more if necessary). Finally, stir in 4 oz uncooked elbow macaroni noodles plus salt & pepper as desired then bring it back up to boiling point before reducing heat again to low/simmering setting; cover pan with lid and let that cook an additional 10-15 minutes so the pasta is tender when served topped with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese or jalapeno peppers!
3. Italian Sausage Lasagna Soup: Heat a large pot over medium high heat then add 2 tablespoons olive oil followed by 8 oz Italian sausage (ground); use wooden spoon while breaking up meat into small pieces while cooking through – should take about 6-7 minutes total time here including stirring throughout process plus draining away any excess fat once finished cooking!. Next add in chopped vegetables like carrots & celery plus one minced clove garlic; sauté these vegetables together another 3-4 minutes or just until they start becoming slightly softened up from cooking process going on here so far!. Once that’s done go ahead now & pour in 6 cups chicken broth along with 14oz can crushed tomatoes plus 15oz jar Marinara sauce too into same pot which should be still hot from previous steps taken already here… Stir those ingredients all together well making sure nothing sticks at bottom either way – this soup should look nice red hue color wise after combined correctly!, Now finally last step involves adding uncooked lasagna sheets broken into smaller pieces directly inside soup itself - Simmer uncovered for about 20 mins on low/medium settings stirring occasionally meanwhile until lasagne has become fully cooked also during same time frame too.. Serve warm topped with freshly grated Parmesan Cheese optional yet recommended as well!.

Make it anyway you normally would with hamburger noodles and cheese. (I use mac n cheese)
But add fried potatoes!!! Soooo good. Drizzle on some steak sauce or ketchup.

I get a box of the Mac n cheese with the white cheddar n bacon, brown and season hamburger meat, a can of ranch style beans, and a can of corn. Add some shredded cheese and homemade ranch dressing. 🙂

Fry your meat....hamburger, sausage, deer whatever kind you like/have. Add taco seasoning if you want. Boil your noodles, doesn't matter what kind, your favorite...what's in the pantry. I mix my noodles into the seasoned meat and add Richo's nacho cheese sauce. Stir well...and it's my family's favorite Mexi helper. You can do meat, seasoning and bacon...add a bit of ketchup/mustard...for bacon cheeseburger helper. Possibilities are endless.

@dincali you are very welcome. It is really good. Can be used in SO many different ways. Not so spicy that it cannot be enjoyed...but just the right kick. Great in broccoli casserole too.

I brown crumbled hamburger meat, with seasoning add elbows noodles , stewed tomatoes mix all this together on top of stove add shredded cheese to cover the top, cook on low heat till cheese melts, the kids and grandkids love it, usually cook green beans or asparagus to go with it.

Homemade Hamburger Helper
2 pound ground beef

1 1/2 cup milk
1 stick of real butter
Cook ground beef I usually cook with chopped onions and minced garlic... boil the elbow noodles and drain....set both aside....then on low melt the cheese, butter, and milk together...when it is completely melted add the ground beef and noodles to the cheese sauce....mix very well!

In skillet fry 1 lb 90/10 burger until done with salt pepper. Then add 1 beef bullion cube, 4 peeled and chopped russet potatoes and cover with water ( about 4 cups) and cook until tender. Mix a cornstarch slurry and thicken to your liking.

This is the way I do beef stroganoff. Everyone who has had it has loved it and it's really hard to keep leftovers no matter how big a batch I make!
