With the pinto beans just cook them in chicken broth with a quartered onion, 5 cloves of smashed garlic, cumin, chili powder, paprika, and any of these: smoked ham hock or smoked pork neck bones, ham or a hambone, and bacon or bacon grease. Cook until tender, adding water as needed and stirring occasionally. Serve with fried potatoes and onions and cornbread. Can also make refried beans or chili with the beans as well.
