Does anybody have the recipe for homemade creamed chipped beef,or as my dad called it SOS,my grandmother use to make it for my dad and I never wrote the recipe down, thanks!!
I take 6 tablespoons of melted butter mix with 6 tablespoons of flour and 2 cups of milk. With the chipped beef. Let it cook mixing it up until thick or thin as you like. Add salt and pepper to taste if you want to.
@asalwayshumble I use same recipe but after butter melts add the beef and let it cook a little while making the milk mixture then add and cook on low until it thickens
I made this a lot when I was a teen . I made a roux . Added milk until it became a white thin gravy . Added the chopped up beef ( I usually rinsed it off before chopping due to being to salty for my liking) then add some pepper. Served it over toast
I put some shortening in a skillet add some flour and stir real good then add some milk and a little salt and pepper cook until it's as thick as you want then add your meat it gives it a lot of flavor and it doesn't shrink up on you like it does if you fry it first
I use the carl buddig meat. 2 small packs each, chicken, turkey and beef. Slice thinly, warm in a pan with some butter, then mix 2 cups milk and 1/4 c. flour together in shaker bottle. Pour into meat and stir constantly until hot and thickened. Serve over toast! So delicious!!
