Looking for SOS (Creamed Chipped Beef) Recipe Like My Grandma Used to Make!

My mom made this all the time. I was never able to duplicate. I remember her cooking the beef according to packaging and she made the white sauce with flour till it thickened. That's all I got

I cut the dried beef (chipped beef) into small pieces, place in iron fry pan with butter. I cook the beef in the butter about 4-5 minutes, then sprinkle flour to cover the beef pieces, stir slowly add milk while stirring until the milk gets thick. I add 1/2 stick of butter, stir add pepper, serve. Sometimes the beef is salty, so taste it before adding any.

I just dice up my beef packets, put a little vegetable oil in the pan , throw the meat in and brown it. I sprinkle flour on it ( I don’t measure, guessing 3 tablespoons) mix it around to coat the meat , then start adding milk over medium heat until I get the consistency I want.

I can't get it right for some reason so I just buy the Stouffer's boil in bag out of freezer section. Add a little butter and milk and pepper and it is as good as my mom's over toast or hash browns

Thanks for all the help y’all,I really appreciate it and so will my fiancé,I usually just buy the stouffers brand, but he wants to try and make homemade.

I use Wondra and milk for my cream base. I follow directions on container. Then add Buddig beef or tuna fish.

We make it with white sauce (white gravy) add Buddig thin sliced beef lunch meat. Make toast and put the meat on toast and the white gravy over all.

My mom made it occasionally. We called it creamed crap. It wasn’t a favorite. When I married my ex husband, he used to talk about his favorite food all the time. Eventually he had his mom call me to give me the recipe. She told me to use a double boiler and melt a few tablespoons of butter then add flour and garlic powder, onion powder , and salt and pepper then add a little milk until it thickens, then more until it thickens, etc and then add cut up Buddig beef. I followed her instructions and when I was done I was like “This is creamed crap. Your favorite food is something my family rolled their eyes at?” His family ate it over rice. My family ate it over bread. Somehow it’s one of my kid’s’ favorite food too. The best part of my story is that my ex mother in law taught me how to make this food before she passed away and not my ex’s sleazy mistress, so that deadbeat never gets to eat it again 😉
