Classic Potato Soup Recipes (Not Loaded Potato Soup)

If you want to make an easy version. 1 bag of southern style hash browns (cubes), 1 carton chicken broth and 1 packet of country gravy mix (Pioneer or Williams). I add to it and start with
Diced onion and celery - sautéed.
Add cubed ham and sauté
Add broth and potatoes and bring to a boil. Add gravy mix and simmer. It thickens as it simmers. Delish!

I leave out the ham celery and onions due to picky eaters at my house and it’s a great classic potato soup recipe. I also add minced garlic when potatoes are boiling, then add garlic powder onion powder when it’s ready.

I cook diced potatoes in as little water as possible until tender. I add a stick of butter, left over mashed potatoes, milk, salt, and pepper. Simple, but we like it.

Potatoes, whole milk, butter, salt, pepper served with Zesta crackers. I don't mash the potatoes but they do break apart some with stirring. Nanny would sound substitute some of the milk with 1/2 & 1/2 if she had it and it was not going to be used.
