These caramels have been a must have at my house for Christmas for 60 years and I also use this recipe to make popcorn balls for Halloween I use a slightly different recipe 1 Can condensed milk - 1 cup corn syrup - 2 cups brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter. I prefer to stir mine as they cook on med/low heat Takes about 20 min to reach soft ball stage Pour into 9X13 greased pan and let cool - then dump out onto a board and cut into squares. Wrap with waxed paper If you want chocolate caramels - Add 3 oz of chocolate chips just after it starts to boil
