Never fails: Season well with S+P G+O sear it on all sides- my preference is a Dutch oven.
Remove from pan and add a cut onion - I like strips- and about 5 cloves of garlic. Cook for a few minutes and add half a box of beef broth to deglaze pan.
Put the roast back in. Cover with lid. Put in oven 325 for 3 hours.
Perfection.
Crock pot on low, roast, beef broth, 1 packet onion soup mix. Put in right before bed if for lunch next day, or first thing in the morning for supper. If it's a large roast for supper, I usually do high for a few hours first, then down to low.
Put your chuck roast in the slow cooker. Put one pack of brown gravy and one pack of Hidden Valley Ranch. Put one stick of butter on top and 5 pepperoncini. You will absolutely love the way this turns out.
