How to Cook a Tender Pot Roast: Tips and Recipes for a 3lb Chuck Roast Using Slow Cooker, Pressure Cooker, or Oven

I cook my roast in the instant pot. 90 minutes high pressure with natural release. Tender enough that you don’t need a knife to cut it.

I actually did first time crock pot on high yesterday 4 hours then added potatoes and. Arrows switched to low for an hour was so tender could shred with plastic fork

Need to cook it low and slow. If you go to work put it in a crockpot where it will cook about eight hours add Carrots onion and celery to it on the bottom set the roast on top sprinkle salt and pepper on top of the roast

Add one pkg Brown gravy mix one pkg Lipton onion soup mix one can Cream of mushroom soup and a can of slice mushroom plus one cup of low sodium beef broth or water mix pour over roast put in a 300 degrees oven for 3-31/2 hours

Always in my crock pot comes out sooooo good. Just falls apart. Don't have to do anything fancy. I just fill with water til the pot roast if covered. Put whatever seasons I want at the time cover an cook on high for about 6 hours. I don't time mine I just check mine here an there. I add potatoes an carrots after the pot roast cooked for about 4 hours.

I put my roast in the crockpot overnight. Roughly 8pm and cook on low till tender or my liking the next morning. The secret ( for me) is to put the roast in the crockpot frozen, add Seasoning on top.
Put a splash of water on top of Seasoning.
I also add 1 stick of butter on top.

3 hours at 350
2 cans of campbells French onion soup
2 cans of water
Garlic
Thyme
Pepper
Carrots
Potatoes
No need for salt due to the soup
Use dripping damn that are left and add flour mixed in about 6-8 ozs of water to make the gravy, once all meat and veggies are removed

My favorite way to cook it is season with salt & pepper and then sear it on all sides in a cast iron Dutch oven. I then remove from pan and sauté some slice onions. Remove those and make a very thin beef gravy using the pan drippings (add butter if needed), water & beef flavored better than bouillon. Add roast and onio back to Dutch oven and then add potatoes and carrots. Cover and cook 3-4 hours on 350. Just made one last week. You can use a crockpot, but the oven makes them so much better.
