How to Cook a Tender Pot Roast: Tips and Recipes for a 3lb Chuck Roast Using Slow Cooker, Pressure Cooker, or Oven

What kind of roast did you use..I only use chuck roast..put in crock pot and put in potatoes and carrots with beef broth ..cook on low for around 8 hours or so...comes out perfect
 
I season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme & coat lightly with flour, sear in a little oil on all sides in a cast iron Dutch oven then set aside. I mix together a couple packages at aujus, brown & mushroom gravy mix (Dry packages) with water, beef broth & worcestshire then add to Dutch oven put roast in sauce & make sure completely covered in sauce. You can add a little red wine & jarred beef gravy also . Cover with lid & cook 30-44 minutes on 425 then turn down to 350 & cook 3-4 hours until fork tender. I add cut carrots the last hour & make garlic mashed potatoes or you can add potatoes to it while cooking. I also add onion & garlic cloves at beginning.
 
I put mine in a pot with water, seasonings, and a beer, cook for about 3 hours or longer, i stab it to see if its tender enough, it needs to cook a sufficient amount of time. Then i take it out, cover it with foil and let it rest while i then use the liquid in the pot to make a gravy. I also make egg noodles to put everything over and a vegetable!
 
I cook mine on low overnight. I start it around 8 or 9 pm and let it cook for about 12 hours. It falls apart.
 
Chuck roast should be just fine. I've only cooked a pot roast in the oven so .... I season it and sear it on the stove.... then place it in a roasting pan with vegetable broth or beef broth ... and put in the oven. Normally 300 degrees for a couple of hours and then move it up to 350 or so... for another hour, give or take.... Then add my potatoes, carrots and onions. By the time the veg is done, it ought to be time to eat.
 
Coat with olive oil with herbs in it. Coat in flour. Sear on each side. Put 1 Lipton onion soup mix,1/4 cup flour and I beer in oven bag and shake to mix it up. Add roast to bag and cook 350 for around 3 hours. Check oven bag box for time depending on size. It is yummy!!!
 
I sear mine first in a hot pan. Sear on all sides until nice and brown. Then I slow cook or pressure cook. Slow cook for probably 12 hours. Pressure cook for 2 hours. Don’t forget lots of beef broth

Also the type of roast makes a difference. I always buy chuck roast.

Look up 3 packet pot roast in crockpot I substitute beef broth for water low for 6 to 8 hours turn over after 3.5 hours.
 
I like mine in a crockpot with a can of root beer or Dr pepper let cook low 6 to 8 hours shred and serve with rice or potatoes and salad
