I used to make Amish friendship bread as gifts. You need to plan them a little early to get the starter going. You can make so many different flavors. Last year, I made the rolo pretzel candy I had seen online. It was surprisingly a huge hit with my family. Really easy to make too. Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Place pretzels on a lined cookie sheet. Place a rolo on top of each pretzel. Heat in oven about 4 minutes. Take out and place a pecan half on each one. Let cool and eat. Here's a link to the bread. Although it uses vanilla pudding, you can substitute any pudding flavor. My favorite is pistachio. https://www.tasteofhome.com/.../sharing-amish-friendship.../

ok, so I haven't baked any cookies for years. I would like to try sugar cookies this year but have NO idea how to make the icing (it has been too long ago). Any suggestions for easy, simple ideas ? TYIA.

Sometimes, I add orange zest and chopped pistachios to batter. Also, I make a glaze with oj and powder sugar and drizzle over top of cooled cookies with fork.
