Meal Ideas for Child with Allergies to Wheat, Milk, Eggs, Nuts, Soy, and Peanuts

Try indian food. It doesn't have to be made spicy. The microwave pouches are very good (amazon) serve with white rice. Easy peasy

I see a lot of people mentioning oats (oat milk, oatmeal, etc). With celiac disease or a wheat allergy, it's important to only eat oats if they are labeled as "certified gluten free." Oats must be grown in a field with a certain amount of distance from wheat fields to prevent cross contamination.
It's also important to prevent cross contamination by not using any open containers of butter, peanut butter, and other condiments. Even the smallest (non-visible) crumb of wheat from a knife that was used to butter regular bread for example can be dangerous. Also cannot use a toaster that has ever had wheat in it.
We have family members that buy products labeled "gluten free" with the best of intentions, but products are often cross contaminated unless labeled "certified gluten free."

@myheart yes! This is what we have found in the past 2 weeks. Just because it is labeled gluten free does not mean it is wheat free. Our only grocery sources are a local grocery and a Walmart. Aldi and whole foods are over 2 hrs away for where we live so unfortunately that means everything is limited. This child has been raised so far on take out and fast food as well so this is a huge change for her mom can no longer make nuggets and Mac n cheese for supper. I've always been the nutritional focused aunt so this weekend I want to show them (mom and daughter) that there is still good tasting nutritional foods that are also better for them. Thank you for everything

My son had 4 safe foods once. (Mostly tube fed) it’s hard, but it’s doable!
Applesauce & mashed banana substitutes eggs in most baking.
Wheat you go corn instead or almond flour.
You got this, at her age she can help you get creative.

My son has a dairy allergy. I usually just cook fresh and sub out dairy for oat milk and margarine. Coconut milk and almond milk are good as well. Do like fajitas and use corn tortillas or chips. There’s dairy free cheeses, cream cheeses, ice creams. Try looking at some Asian recipes. I find lots of those don’t contain allergens. Tonight I did an Asian marinade chicken, except I used elk, because why not go crazy with the backstrap. Really good. I’m interested in trying it with other proteins.

Can you ask your friend or relative what their daughter’s favorite goods are? Get a list, and feed everyone what’s on the list for the weekend.

@kristaburgess it was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago and mom has been struggling with it. Child was already a picky eater that mostly ate pizza or nuggets and Mac n cheese. Basically the only foods she would eat are now off limits and for 2 weeks it's been plain rice/potatoes and baked meat for every meal.

Lots of veggies (cook in oil, not butter), various meats, rice, quinoa, potatoes (pan fry in oil), fruits, lots of corn chips and potato chips may be both gluten and dairy free. Obviously, lots of label reading and extra prep work, but you do have some options.

@steve53 yes please! This was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago and she was already a picky eater that basically lived on fast foods. The only fruit she likes is bananas and her favorite snack was a flour tortilla with shredded cheese. That's why they are coming for a visit in hopes that nutrition heavy Auntie can help expand the list of things she will and can eat.

@steve53 I would like an invite, my gson is allergic to dairy, all grass, most trees. The dairy is the worst. But I was recently told I need further testing for Celiac disease.

You can use applesauce as a substitute for eggs, if you want to bake anything and you can make baked apples with cinnamon and honey for a dessert

@alltimeis my daughter is 19 she's figured out she would rather give up nut butters lol she said sunflower was too weird and makes her think of a mouthfuls of sunflower seeds lol. I thought it was good
