Seeking the Ultimate Mashed Potatoes Recipe for Thanksgiving – Share Your Best!

My mashed potatoes are simple, but I get lots of compliments on them. I peel and cube the potatoes, boil in salted water until fork tender, drain, add a little more salt, black pepper, real butter, and whole milk. I mix mine with my hand mixer. I don't like to add a lot of ingredients because I want to taste the potatoes.

These are not your grandmother's potatoes.
10 pounds russets potatoes
2 containers 16oz sour cream
2 bricks 8oz cream cheese
Boil and mash potatoes, add cream cheese, add sour cream. Blend with hand mixer. They will be creamy, but they will still hold gravy. I've been making these for 25 or more years and they never disappoint.
Note: I butter up the sides of my crock pot and serve them out of it. It keeps them hot for hours. I have a small crock pot that my gravy is in, it sets right next to it. It's a great way to serve.

Real standard, drippings, broth, butter, flour, garlic powder, I do add soy sauce. About 1/2 teaspoon per cup of gravy. All the spices you used in the stuffing are in your drippings. So if you don't have stuffing in your turkey, you probably want to spice up your gravy a little.

Yukon gold potatoes make all the difference. Butter, salt, pepper and milk. Some people use cream, cream cheese or sour cream. Top with chives.
