My favorite way to have cabbage is chopped and cooked in a pan with polish sausage, onions, garlic, bell peppers, and potatoes.
My second favorite way is cabbage soup- cabbage, onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, leeks, celery, chicken broth, salt and pepper
As a side dish, cabbage fried with bacon and onions is really really good.

@etha that basically is the recipe. For my family (5 teen-adult children, myself, my husband, and sometimes some a grandson, and many times girlfriends and boyfriends), I use 3 lbs of polish sausage, cut up. I start with my potatoes, because they take the longest. Dice them into smaller pieces. I like to start them in my large electric skillet with some butter, salt, pepper, and a little bit of chicken broth to help soften them up. Once they’re close to done I add my sausage (or I start my sausage on the griddle for more space). Cook it iwith some olive oil. Add in two chunky diced onions, 2 green bell peppers, diced, a couple of red, yellow or orange bell peppers, chopped, and as much garlic as you like! We like a lot, so I usually use about an entire bag of pre peeled garlic, chopped up. If you cooked everything separate from the potatoes, add the potatoes in. Then just cook it until it’s all done. I will sprinkle some oregano and parsley while it’s cooked, and salt and pepper as needed.
