Dry Limas & whatever kinda of meat is on sale; hotdogs, market or link sausage,Red hots....cut in small pieces...onion...pan of corn bread...or light bread, biscuits or rolls.
I have made this many ttimes. The real trick is to let it cook long enough. Make sure it is fork tender depending on size can be 8+hours. It just depends the good news is you cant overcook it. https://www.spendwithpennies.com/slow-cooker.../...
If you find a pork roast on sale, buy it! Rub it with Hawaiian Sea Salt (very inexpensive on Amazon) and Hickory Smoke. Put in slow cooker (no water or liquid). I know it sounds like a long time, but cook 16 to 20 hours on low, turning once halfway through. Remove and shred. If you think it's too dry, add liquid it was cooked in. Great for sandwiches, over baked potatoes, pork tacos or enchiladas ande so much more. It can also be frozen for later.
