Need Budget-Friendly Meal Ideas: Tired of Chuck Steaks & Pasta - Looking for Cheap, Nutritious Recipes!

When I was 20, married and expecting child it was so tough due to my husband losing his job. I ate a lot of eggs and Oatmeal I remember. ☹️. I feel so bad for young people trying to buy food. I always recommend mashed potato’s with chicken pot pie soup poured over it and another vegetable. Jello with sliced bananas in it. A can of chicken has different options from chicken salad to chicken in gravy to chicken over take out fried rice. Tomato soup and grilled cheese. Corn chips with chili and nacho type ingredients like beans, lettuce, onion and tomato. Ground chicken or Turkey burgers. Do a search on 5 ingredient recipes too. Hugs ❤️🥰😇

Chicken drumsticks are super cheap and easy to do. Rinse them, pull the skin over them as much as possible to keep moist, and pop them onto a baking sheet. Season them however you like (we like cajun and greek seasoning) and place a pat of butter on each one. Bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Serve with whatever easy sides you have in hand.

Sear boneless skinless chicken breast medium high until browned on both sides. Cube a few potatoes, and veggies of choice. We usually do onions, bell peppers, carrots, and zucchini but it can be anything. if we use onions and peppers we put them in after the chicken has already been cooking about 20 minutes Combine it in a sheet pan sprinkle 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp Onion powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp lemon pepper the toss in 1 Tbsp olive oil. Bake at375 fora out 40 minutes until potatoes are tender and chicken internal temp hits 165 degrees.

@jacqueherman I do the same thing. Make a big pot of chili and eat it one night as chili, then it’s used for chili dogs or I serve it over macaroni or baked potato. Chili is really easy to make. I usually just throw browned hamburger, onions, beans, stewed tomatoes and seasonings together. Sometimes I follow a recipe.

Get a box of zatarians red beans and rice or they have a cheaper version at aldi's. Ground up 1lb of hamburger. Slice up a kielbasa sausage. Follow directions on box of rice with the water. Mix all together and simmer! Enjoy. Serve with bisquits or rolls! Sooo easy and filling!❤️

@nikolajI’ve never used hamburger meat in it, although sounds delicious, just do the sausage for even more frugal. ***but now I MUST try with hamburger meat also. Lol
